The Spring 2011 Historically Black College & University Tour is NOW ONLY $295.00.

Terms & Conditions: In order to receive the $100.00 discount you must complete the student registration and pay the $295.00 in full by 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 5, 2011. Money order, cashier’s check and certified checks are accepted. No personal checks will be accepted. Please make payments payable to Perfect Light Educational Program, Inc.

You may mail the registration and payment to Perfect Light Educational Program, Inc. 858 Blair Ave. Suite 3, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229. The payment MUST accompany the registration and be received by the due date above. There will be absolutely no refunds.

On Sunday, Monday 27, 2011 Perfect Light Educational Program, Inc. will participate in Cascade Family Skating Rink’s College Night. Consequently, if your child will not be at least 18 years old by Sunday, March 27, 2011 the waiver below will need to be signed and dated by a parent/guardian. As the parent of a Perfect Light college tour participant(s) I fully understand the nature of the event due to take place at Cascades Family Skating Rink on Sunday, March 27, 2011. I will release Cascades Family Skating Rink and Perfect Light Educational Program, Inc. from any financial liability stemming from injury that may occur while my child is at the Cascades Family Skating Rink. The Sisters of Nia Girls’ Summer Enrichment Camp

May 23, 2011– July 29, 2011

The Sisters of Nia Girls’ Summer Enrichment Camp is a fun filled, mind stimulating and uniquely designed summer camp that blends academics, fun and creativity perfectly for girls ages 9-14. The camp fosters an “I can do it” attitude by building confidence, cultural awareness and personal edge.

“By providing an atmosphere of celebration, Sisters of Nia, equips girls with the life skills that allow them to open themselves to new experiences, pursue goals, take ownership of decisions and align actions and values.”

Candidates for this camp should be:

• At least 9 years and no more than 14 years old by the first day of camp.
• Highly motivated, self contained and have a sincere enthusiasm and passion for learning.

Camp Courses & Activities Include:

Dance, Health and Fitness, Trust Self-esteem & Team Building Excises, Art Appreciation, Math & Science Enrichment, African – American Woman Leaders, Computer Science, Sewing, Etiquette, Unique & exciting field trips and Weekly Roundtable discussions with area woman leaders

The total cost of the camp is $600.00 per girl (family discounts are available).

There is a $200.00 non-refundable deposit to reserve a space in the camp. The deposit is due on or before the mandatory orientation meeting.

Morehouse is located in the dynamic city of Atlanta, which is known as the cultural and economic Mecca of the South. The College provides for a quality education while the surrounding community provides an array of social and cultural activities. Professional ball games, theaters, concerts, art galleries, fine restaurants, and malls are all accessible by the public transit system and can be found all over the metropolitan area. Places of interest include Georgia’s Stone Mountain Park, Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change, Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, the Antebellum Plantation, Six Flags over Georgia, and Carter Presidential Center, Museum, and Library. The campus is located one mile west of downtown Atlanta.

Morehouse is a private, independent, four-year liberal arts college for men. It was founded in 1867 in Augusta, Georgia as the Augusta Institute; its purpose, to train freed slaves to read and write. The school moved to Atlanta in 1879 and expanded its scope to prepare blacks for the ministry. Consequently, it was called Atlanta Baptist Seminary. In 1894, the first college instruction was introduced and in 1897, the first bachelor’s degree was granted and the name changed to Atlanta Baptist College.

Spelman is located in the metropolitan city of Atlanta, the capital of Georgia (population more than 4 million). The city is served by mass air, rail, and bus transportation. Local transportation on the MARTA provides easy access to downtown, the airport, or virtually anywhere in the metro area. The campus is located a mile west of downtown, close to Underground Atlanta, with its quaint shops. Students have access to fine dining, world-class shopping, art galleries, and museums, the Atlanta Symphony or Ballet. Points of interest include the Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Non-violent Social Change; the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library; Stone Mountain Park; Six Flags over Georgia amusement park; and the Georgia World Congress Center, which hosts many national conferences. The city of Atlanta is an international center for business, banking, and social change, offering students many professional opportunities.

Spelman College (SC) is a four-year, private, female liberal arts institution founded in 1881 as Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary by Sophia B. Packard and Harriet E. Giles who were commissioned by the Womens American Baptist Home Mission Society. Spelman began in the basement of Friendship Baptist Church with eleven pupils made up of ten women and one girl who were determined to learn to read and write. Atlanta Baptist Female Seminary became Spelman Seminary for Women and Girls in 1884 and became Spelman College in 1924.
